Our Constitution

The Club Constitution provides our club with a document outlining our objectives, structure and responsibilities.  A constitution is an essential document, ensuring the smooth administration of an association or club and is a legal necessity to protect the interests of members.

Updating Our Constitution

At this year’s (2024) AGM, the Committee will be holding a special resolution to amend the Rules of Blackburn Lake Netball Club (“the Club Constitution”).  A good constitution needs to be reviewed regularly to ensure it is still serving your organisation, and still adhering to state laws.  If an incorporated club does not have its own constitution, they automatically default to the consumer affairs incorporated regulations

Our Club Constitution was last updated on 2 September 2014 and the Committee determined it was prudent for our club to revisit and update the current constitution to align it with current best-practice governance for sports organisations.

The proposed updates to our constitution are guided by the sample constitution that Netball Victoria has prepared for affiliated clubs.  The template meets the statutory requirements of a Victoria incorporated association under the Association Incorporate Reform Act 2912 (Vic) (as of 14 June 2017).  You can find further information & templates on Rules or incorporate or a constitution at the Netball Victoria Website or https://vic.netball.com.au/constitution-and-bylaws.

We encourage all our Club members to review the proposed revisions to our Club constitution and if you require any clarification to please contact one of our Committee members.  We encourage all our Club members to participate and vote at our AGM.
